UAIT Submits AI Technology Certificate Program Proposal to Rwanda TVET Board

Empowering Rwanda’s Youth with Practical AI Skills for the Future

Kigali, Rwanda — The United African Institute of Technology (UAIT), in partnership with Arise AI Agency, has officially submitted a proposal to the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) to establish a 1-year AI Technology Certificate Program aimed at preparing youth for the digital economy.

The proposed program will offer hands-on training in:

• Python Programming

• Machine Learning Fundamentals

• Mobile AI App Development

• Conversational AI and Chatbots

• AI for Healthcare & Public Services

• Data Collection & Processing Techniques

“This certificate program has been designed not just for classroom theory, but for real-world impact,” said the UAIT Program Coordinator. “Our goal is to equip Rwandan youth to become AI innovators and solution builders across key sectors like agriculture, health, education, and public service.”

The curriculum aligns with Rwanda’s digital transformation agenda and promotes inclusive, ethical, and locally relevant use of AI. Though official RTB approval is still pending, UAIT has already begun preparing for implementation, including outreach to students, institutions, and industry partners.

An interest registration form is now available for young people and organizations who would like to stay informed or participate in the pilot phase once launched.
